SafeScan Now (safescannow.com) is an independent online publication that reviews consumer antivirus, anti-malware, and related security software. SafeScan Now is a publisher only. We do not sell antivirus, develop antivirus, license antivirus, white-label antivirus, or hold equity in any vendor whose product we cover.

Some of the outbound product links on SafeScan Now are affiliate links. If a reader clicks one of those links and subsequently purchases the product, SafeScan Now may earn a commission paid by the vendor or by the vendor's affiliate-network partner. The reader pays the same price either way; the commission is paid out of the vendor's existing marketing budget.

Affiliate revenue is paid into a shared editorial pool and used to fund salaries, lab equipment, and independent testing. No editor is compensated per click or per conversion.

In compliance with the United States Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255), SafeScan Now discloses affiliate relationships in three places: (1) in a sitewide top bar shown on every page, (2) at the top of every article that contains affiliate links, and (3) in the body of the article near the link itself.

Affiliate compensation does not influence our scoring formula, our scoring inputs, the order of products in any ranking, or whether a product appears in a 'best' list at all. Scoring is locked in advance of any affiliate negotiation, the same six-pillar formula runs every month, and any change to the formula is dated and signed on the /methodology/ page.

We will publish critical reviews of products we receive commissions for. We have done so before. If our scoring data turns against an affiliate partner, the partner is removed from our 'best' lists or moved down the ranking — never the other way around.
